After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response: After learning more about rhetorical devices the one I find most effective is Rhetorical Question. The reason I think this is most effective is because the question is usually asked after more context/info that leads to whatever point the speaker is trying to make. It makes the audience really think about what was just asked especially after the information that was most likely provided before. This is the main reason why I think it is the most effective.

Summary: absent

Reflection: While learning the different types of rhetorical devices using rhetorical question is the most effective. I think it would be even more effective being paired with the three appeals logos, pathos, or ethos. Even more specifically logos as it provides facts as the context which is good when wanting to persuade someone and asking a profound question.

tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.
