 Prompt Response: A relationship where I feel truly understood is with my friendship with Solange. I've known her since elementary school and we grew even more closer during highschool as we stay in the same community now. What makes this relationship strong is that I don't have to over explain myself everytime with her and she can understand my feelings well. I am allowed to express myself.  Prompt Response: A moment where I performed better than I expected was during my spanish test. I did not study or look over the vocab before taking the test. The test was around 30 questions long and multiple choice. Most of the questions I just took an educated guess as I knew some words. In the end I got a A on the test which suprised me.  Summary: During the class period we wrote original sentences with new vocab words. We worked on this for about 20 minutes. After that we read chapter 12 and reviewed it as a class. As we were reading the chapter we took turns answering connection and text analysys questions.  Prompt Response: A moment where my persective of my family changed is when I learned about their struggles they were going through. Before, I percieved my family to be perfect growing up. Now I value them even more as I am even more grateful. This connects to Chris finding out that his parents were not the same in time. I view my family as more human now than before as everyone struggles.  Prompt Response:  Based on the first 40 minutes of the movie, it displays Chris McCandless actions as more reckless. In the movie it does speak on his family issues early on but it seems reckless for right after the dinner to burn his belongings. Even though his actions did seem reckless it was ultimately his choice to do this as he was done with college. The movie made the decision to leave look very freeing for Chris.  Summary:  During the class period we watched the first 40 mins of the film version Into the Wild.  Prompt Response:  My desired SAT score at minimum is a 1250 for now. This would make me qualify for multiple scholarships such as the Zell Miller one. My top three colleges include NCAT, Emory, and UGA. NCAT is a close hbcu and offers a good program for nursing. This would be an ideal option as I would be surrounded with not only like minded people but people of my race. Emory would also be a good option as I am interested in healthcare and it's closer to my home.  Prompt Response: With the time changing again I find it helpful for the sun to stay out later in the day. As someone with after school activities it makes me feel better that the sun will still be out after I am done. I love seeing the sun as much as I can after school as it generally just makes me feel more better.  Prompt response: A specific book that has shaped the way I view life is, "I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isn't) written by Brene Brown. This books talks about the generic human experience with the emotion shame. It drives the point that your experience is not orignal in the sense that you are not alone, meaning that empathy is a cure for shame. After reading this book, it provided much relief to know that deep down I am not the only one who is going through this though others may not admit that.  Prompt Response: After reading the first 10 chapters, I would have to say that chapter 8 stood out to me the most. The reason for this is that Chapter 8 shows the critisims that McCandless faced from the public along with native Alaskans. It also provides the reader with more context about the character of Chris McCandless by providing similiar stories of men who went out into the wild.  Prompt Response: Currently, I believe that success means to be accomplished and all about perservering. I define success as choosing to continue to work on problems and not picking the easy way out. Success is different for each individual as not everyone has reached the same level in their lifes. One person may view themselves as successful for getting a B+ on a test because they usually get a grade of C. On the other hand a person may view themselves as successful for getting a perfect score after being only a couple points off. Success is just a new high for each individual. I think viewing success as grades, awards, or acceptances into college can become detrimental for some people as they stress over these things.  Summary: During the class period we answered each other's critical thinking questions.  Prompt Response: A time when I have chosen to be independent is when my friends offered to do a study group for the ap exams. I decided it would be best for me to study on my own and not relying on them for help. I did this because I knew I would stay focus when studying alone. Even though I understand they were trying to help, I just knew we would go off topic since we are friends and it may not have been productive. Next time, I would do a study group as I find it helpful to review the material by "teaching" it to someone.  Summary: During the class period we went over the past chapters we read as a class.  Prompt Response: A word from lessson 10 that resonates with me personally is tremulous which means to be nervous or timid. This word is significant has it decribes many experiences that I have been through. One of my favorite memories with this feeling is when I visited six flags in the 8th grade. My group of friends decided to go wait for the ride goliath. I had saw this ride and immediately gotten nervous after witnessing the straight decent into the sky at the very beginning.  Prompt Response: Based on the first chapter that we read I truly believed that Chris McCandless understood the risk that he was taking.Chris McCandless is a educated man who went to Emory. In the first chapter when the man offered him food he decllined.
