Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response: In order to create the examples you had to reflect on your life and feelings. Most of the topics had to do with situations with interacting with yourself and the world around you. It was hard as we did not have to overthink with the examples and it can be something more common. While writing my figurative language I learned that I tend to overthink my examples and wonder if they are not good enough creative wise. I tried to make sure they were more creative so I can represent them better when we do a presentation.

Summary: During the class time we wrote multiple similes and metaphors on various topics. The topics were centered around oneself and what one has gone through. The topics required deep thought in created the the rhetorical devices. We reviewed our metaphors and simile's in our groups to make sure they were good.

Reflection: The process was fun. I could think deeply about these. The examples were hard sometimes to come up with as some did not really apply as I have not been in those situations in such a deep manner.

In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.
