In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).

Prompt response: I spend my winter break mostly resting and recovering from the first semester. Most of my time went to sleeping for the first couple of days. After that I enjoyed the holidays with my family over at my grandmothers house.

4 Goals

1. The first goal that I want to achieve this year is the accomplishment of all A's in my second semester of junior year. This goal is important to me because, through striving for this goal, it will teach me how to persevere through hard times and is especially important as these grades will be most important when applying to colleges in the fall of 2026. To accomplish this goal, I will look back adequately on the first semester of junior year and assess the areas that I need improvement on in order to ensure my success towards this goal, making sure I use sail every Thursday for extra help, studying for an hour on topics I struggle on after school and implement new changes for what did not work in the past. By May 2026, I plan to pass all my finals, which will give me the last thing I need for my grades in order to achieve all A's.

2. The second goal I want to achieve this year is to get a SAT score of at least 1350 during the March testing period. This goal is important as it will be critical for applying to colleges to show growth in my scores as well as applying for full-ride scholarships that are needed for financial support. To accomplish this goal, I will take a practice test each week leading up to the testing date, and based on that test, assess what areas I need help in and apply resources such as Khan-academy to improve those sections for 45 minutes each day. At the beginning of April, I plan to have a released score of 1350+ in order to submit.

3. The third goal I want to achieve this year is to gain my driving licence. This is important as it will teach time management and the importance of safety. To accomplish this goal, I will work on completing my Joshua's Law for 30 minutes each day of this month, practice driving with my parent during free days to finish the required hours, and practice recognizing the correct symbols/signs. By April 2026, I plan to have passed the complete driving test and the written test to attain my license.

4. The fourth and final goal I want to achieve this year is to read 1 book per month as a personal goal for this year. This is important as it will expand my knowledge and vocabulary, which is essential for foundational analytical skills, which will be useful down the line in college. To accomplish this goal, I will pick a book and read at least a quarter of the pages each week, completing the book at the end of week 4. By the end of December 2026, I plan to have completed 12 books and expand my knowledge.

Summary:  In the beginning of the class period we went over the class rules and regulations as a refresher. After that, we worked on writing 4 goals in writeable. During the class period we had time to complete our blog post at the end.

Reflection: The winter break was spent well as I created good memories with my family during the holidays. It was exciting as we were entering a new year which is nice to look forward to. As I come back to school I am ready to improve on as I know what is expected of myself.

In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.
