What is the best piece of advice of that your parent or guardian has given you? Tell what the advice was and what prompted you to ask the question.

Prompt Response: The best piece of advice a guardian has ever given me is to surround yourself with people who are going to lift you up and are going to places you also want to go to. The conversation was about the friends I had in middle school and how it was affecting me. My guardian told me this as I wanted to reach for higher and apply myself to do more greater things. My friends at that time had very limited mindsets.

Summary: During the class period we read a poem. The poem was rhetorical. As a class we identified each. We filled out a paper talking about the different elements.

Reflection: The friends I had at that time did not apply themselves which made is frustrating trying to debunk what they were saying about my character. I think every has potential to reach higher points but limiting beliefs and not attempting will hold you back as a person.

In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.
