Prompt: Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and spending time with family over a nice dinner. Write about your most unforgettable meal.

Prompt Response: The most unforgettable meal I had was during my first time I trried Ethiopian food. I was about 6 years old and my father took me to an Ethiopian restraunt. I tried injera for the first time and got to taste the veggies along with the meat. It was very unforgettable as it was very good.  Summary: During class as a group we completed the illuminate test which was based on the story we read in class.  Reflection: I still very much enjoy ethiopian food. We still go out and eat it time to time. It is a core memory I have as it was long ago.

Prompt: Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?

Prompt Response: A time when I realized I needed to look out for myself in a harmless situation was when I heard a  friend say something very weird and off putting. This made me decide internally to distance myself from them as I was not that close personally to them in the first place. I saved myself as I knew I could not hang out with a person who finds humor in saying such werid and off putting things that scream disrespect. Summary: Absent.  Reflection: This situation was harmless as there was no fighting involved as they did not even notice. I know that we would not be compatible.

Prompt: Describe a time that you had an encounter with a homeless person, either directly or indirectly. What did you think and how did it make you feel?

Prompt Response: A time when I had an encounter with a homeless person was when they had came into the fast food place I was working at and had stayed until closing time. While they were there I gave them a drink cup for the fountains as they commonly come in every night until close or at least when I work there.Sometimes when they do come in at the end of the night they leave a big mess of trash which always makes me feel confused because the trash was two steps away, closer than what the exit door was so they can always do it themselves but choose not to.  Summary: During the class period we read a new story. The class was taking turns reading each paragraph and after we would dicuss what happened. After that in between each paragraph we had time to answer the questions that were attached to the reading. At the end we completed the first six questions of the story.  Reflection: The parts of the story that we read are so far interesting. It leaves me thinking what will ...

Write about what you are thankful for.

Prompt Response: I am thankful for many things in my life. Some of things include my family, friends, and the opportunities I have. I am thankful for these things as there are many in the world without. These things give me comfort and motivation to keep on going. My family and friends bring me joy and I tend to forget about the bad things once with them . Summary: During class today we worked on vocab from lesson three. We wrote the vocab in our notes. Then we completed exercises 3 and 4. As well as wrote an original sentence for each word and turned it in.  Reflection: As thanksgiving is coming up it is a great time to reflect on what I am thankful for as it is a reminder that I am blessed and to the eyes of many I am in a lucky position that I am grateful for.

The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

Prompt Response: A moment when new information changed my perception of someone was when I was told that my friend thought that I was attacking her for sharing how I felt about a certain thing she did in a respectful manner. This made my perception of her negative as I thought she would be mature and acknowledge the things she did but instead it was the complete opposite. My perception of her is now not in a good light as I was completely taken back from her reaction because I considered her a friend. This re-shaped my understanding as I now know that I can not take it personally and that people may not even try to understand sometimes which is okay.  Summary: During the class time we completed a quiz based on the story we read. We did this in groups.  Reflection: As I reflect on the quiz today it was a good thing that we were able to work in groups. It was challenging but we did get the 100.

In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

Prompt response: The most craziest news story I have ever heard was where a young adult women who was at first enrolled in college became lost and due to her irresponsible actions that she was very aware of she gets kicked out but continues to hide it from her parents. She still goes continues to show up at the college pretending like nothing happens and that's where the school advisors and dean had to call her parents and the police as she kept coming but was no longer enrolled. From the stress of her parents finding out she kills both of her parents and after acts with no remorse but then attempts to get out of trouble by doing a plea of insanity.  Summary: During the class period we finished reading, "A Rose for Emily" and reviewed what happened in the story, After that we then reviewed what direct and indirect characterization was even practicing. Next in groups we completed the paper on the character that we picked. Then we had time to complete todays blog post.  Re...

Miss Emily’s house once represented pride and tradition, but over time it became a symbol of decay and isolation. Describe a place that holds deep memories for you—positive or negative—and explain how it reflects part of who you are or how you’ve changed over time.

Prompt Response:  A place that holds deep positive and negative memories for me is my grandparents house as I used to live there for my elementary years. This place I still call my home as I have lived there and still visit my grandparents. Their house holds many positive memories as I would have holidays celebrated over there with Christmas and thanksgiving cooking food with my grandmother. It also has bad memories as I have gotten in trouble and have hurted myself in the backyard. The house reflects how I have changed over time as my old bed room is filled with the stuff I was once interested and cared about as a kid as the same bed coverings and wall hangings are still there for my little cousins.  Summary: During the class period we read the story "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner. We then went through and talked about the things that were happening in the story as well as the different perspectives. After each part we took time to complete some questions on the...

Think about the vocabulary words from Lesson Two. Write about a time you saw or heard one of these words outside of the classroom — maybe in a movie, song, social media post, or book. Describe how it was used and whether the context helped you understand the word better.

Prompt Response: A time when I heard the word metamorphis outside the classroom was when I was watching the Godzilla movie that involved the moth. I heard this word as it was used to described what the creature was going through. As it was coming out of the cocoon and a dramatic change was about to happen to it. The context helped me better understand it as a child when first learning the different phases as I could physically see the change in something I was watching.  Summary: During the class period we wrote down the new vocab in our notes. After that we completed exercise one of the vocab. Then as a group we continued to work on our power point presentations and then shared them with Mr.Rease.  Reflection: I reflected on the worked we did and the different words that I can adapt in my daily conversations. I saw how the words can be used in different ways.

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.

Prompt Response: One time when learning something new helped me understand something better was when I was younger and was analyzing scripture along with the ideas with it. I had to understand what discernment really was in order to figure out the message. This helped me better understand everything in context.  Summary: During class today we read the story "The Rockiple" by James Baldwin. We then in groups started our power point presentation . As well as worked on the stations assigned to us.  Reflection: I was able to make personal connections to the story. It was a important read. I reflected on the theme and the message the story was trying to convey.

Thinking about "The Rockpile," what is something your parents forbade you from doing when you were growing up? Explain what it was and why they might have set that rule.

Prompt response: My mother forbade me from eating pork when growing up as I still don't eat it now. She did not allow my sister and I to consume pork as she thought the animal was gross in nature as it basically eats anything. She did not think it was important and instead we ate only chicken. She sometimes let us consume beef which she didn't mind as much.  Summary: During class we read the story "The Rockpile". We then went over some parts as a class. After that we worked in our groups. Reflection: During class as we read I made personal connections to the story and reflected on the themes of it. In my prompt as I reflect on my answer I am glad my mother did not allow that as I too do think it is a gross animal to consume.

Thinking about “The Rockpile,” which parent or guardian in your life has been the strictest when it comes to discipline? Explain how their approach to discipline has influenced you or shaped your behavior.

Prompt Response: The guardian in my life who has been the strictest when it comes to discipline is my grandmother. She was always the one to effectively discipline me and my sister when we did not use proper manners or got in trouble. She rightfully disciplined us fair as she pointed out our mismanners when it came to talking to elders or properly speaking to others as well as cleaning. My grandmothers discipline made me more respectful to others and take into account others feelings. It has also taught me to act more effectively when it came to responsibilities like school, work, or keeping up with the house.  Summary: During class we continued to look over the story "Rockiple" by James Baldwin. We continued to work on our group projects. As well as complete our own parts of it with the paper.  Reflection: The times my grandmother has discipline me I deserved it but I rarely got disciplined because we were raised in a respectful household where we were mindful of others...
